Press Release: ASICS - the new title sponsor for Penang Bridge International Marathon 2014



ASICS Penang Bridge International Marathon (APBIM) 2014 that going to happen on 16 November 2014 will mark an important milestone as the run will be shifted to Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge, also known as the Second Penang Bridge this year. This will be the inaugural run on this new Bridge that linked Penang Island and Peninsular Malaysia. The starting point will be on Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, opposite Motorola plant.

APBIM 2014 has received 60,000 participants to date, out of the targeted 80,000 participants. The enthusiasm of the runners could be felt as the numbers of registrants increased since opening of the registration on 1st March.

After being a supportive apparel sponsor for last two years, ASICS has advanced further in their supports toward PBIM by being the Title Sponsor. This year, ASICS will have even more prominent presence in ASICS Penang Bridge International Marathon 2014. ASICS sponsors and supports various international marathons across the world, including the TCS New York City Marathon, the Tokyo Marathon, and the Schneider Electric Marathon De Paris. Among all other marathon events that ASICS supports, this is the first time ever ASICS takes up the TITLE SPONSOR crown. It is indeed great honours of APBIM 2014.



This year, the starting time for each category is changed. For Full Marathon Men’s category, the starting time is 1.30am; while Full Marathon Women’s is 1.45am and Full Marathon Veteran’s is 2.00am. Starting time for Half Marathon Men’s is 3.00am; Half Marathon Women’s is 3.30am; while Half Marathon Veteran’s is 4.00am. For 10KM marathon, there are four starting time, which are 6.30am for 10KM Junior Girls; 6.45am for 10KM Junior Boys; 7.00am for 10KM Women’s and 7.30am 10KM Men’s. For Fun Run, the starting time is 8.00am.
