Walk-A-Payung for World Lupus Day 2011 - Malaysia

What? Walk-A-Payung (WAP) 2011

Where? Dataran Petaling Jaya, near Taman Jaya LRT.

When? 22 May 2011, Sunday, 7:00am

Who? Organised by Persatuan SLE Malaysia

Why? To raise awareness about Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. WAP also raises funds for PSLEM's free counselling services and for needy SLE patients who have to undergo hip replacement or cataract operations due to their steroid medication.

How far? 3 KM

How much? RM50.00 per person, 12 years old and above. Free participation for children below 12 walking with parents or guardians with Walk-a-Payung tickets.

Runwitme Says: You could also sponsor a needy SLE patient for the walk at RM50.00. Each participant is entitled to A Walk-a-Payung t-shirt and umbrella, a pair of sunglasses or spectacle frame (while stocks last), breakfast and goodie bag. Participants are also eligible for a Lucky Draw and Fun Quiz.

Make it a fun outing for the whole family while doing your bit to charity and also learn about lupus disease. FYI, Lupus is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal, healthy tissue. This results in symptoms such as inflammation, swelling, and damage to joints, skin, kidneys, blood, the heart, and lungs.
